Most states do. Check with your state governement. They will give you a certain percentage off of the price of the unit on your income tax return.

This year there are some federal tax credits. go to irs.gov and type in energy tax credits and you should find the info. Pool heaters, though, are not included if my memory serves me right. I looked at the info a few weeks ago. As to state credits, most states DONT have credits, but check your state’s website to see.

There is a federal energy saver incentive credit that the solar panels might qualify for. Also as far as the heat pump goes you would have to get one with a really high SEER rating to qualify for the credit. However, there are some studies that say that they do not save that much energy. My hubby is in Heating and Air and he recently went to a meeting and they were discussing the fact that the way that the SEER rating is figured is misleading for some higher SEER rating equipment. Therefore, the higher price for the higher SEER rating are not price efficient due to the fact that the do not save as much energy. However, depending on how old your heat pump is you might be able to upgrade to a higher efficiency one that is not eligible for a credit and still be able to save energy and be more price efficient as well.
