		<description>If I was the lecturer, I would prefer everyone chose the same thing.  It makes them a little easier to grade, and a lot easier to compare.
A choice is provided simply because the individual students might have slightly different aptitudes for different subject matters.  In this way, the complaint of, &quot;I really didn&#039;t know about that, but Joe already knew a lot&quot;, is somewhat mitigated.  For example, I have a much better background in semiconductors than stress analysis, so I would choose the solar panel topic.  If you view either subject equally, then toss a coin.  If you view both with equal disdain... then I think you have a problem.
The instructor will not give a better grade to a bad report simply because it was the less-common topic.</description>
