What Is A Realistic Year For Solar Power To Become A Viable Energy Source?

Compared to our overall energy consumption, solar power is simply a weak energy source. IF we used much less energy, and wasted less, and had more efficient machinery, then it could be a much more significant energy source. But we’re too used to cheap high-energy fuels (oil, gas) to make things as efficient as they should be.
You can set up your house for all-solar operation, but you have to make a lot of changes in how much energy you use, when you use it, and you have to make your home much more energy efficient, change your appliances, seal the doors, install insulated windows, you have to rethink and retool the whole house. We should be doing this already, but we’re just too used to all that cheap fuel to bother with being efficient with it!

The year that our elected officials in Washington stop kissing the collective butts of the oil industry.
Think about this: The oil industry is scared to death of solar and wind power because they can’t control/regulate/ and price it like they do with oil. If they can’t control it, but the people can, they disappear.

No,solar power is not a good viable energy cos there is no 24 hour of daylight to provide energy.some country do not has access to continuous solar power ie.winter.Solar panel for harness solar energy is very unaffordable and you need to store power for night usage in the battery banks.Battery are also very expensive.
    Basically you need,Sunlight>solar panel>battery banks>charger>electronic units>step up and down voltage> 110volts >220volts,12volts,24volts for various application

Solar power will most likely never become a viable energy source due to our government investing so much money in researching hydrogen power, along with a few other projects. One of these projects is harvesting oil shale, which is currently expensive, but with time may become easier. The US currently has enough oil shale to support its own economy for hundreds of years. Most of it lies beneath the Rocky Mountain states.
